Grassroots development is the starting point of the Touch Football PNG player pathway. It provides opportunities for children, young people and communities to participate in touch football, learn the fundamentals of the game and develop a lifelong connection with the sport.Through community participation, schools and locally organised activities.

Players can learn essential skills including passing, movement, teamwork, communication and sportsmanship in an enjoyable and inclusive environment.Grassroots touch football also plays an important role in introducing the sport to new communities and encouraging wider participation across Papua New Guinea.As players develop their skills and gain experience, grassroots competitions can provide the foundation for progression into organised club, association and provincial competitions.
